Ongoing Care Group
West Michigan Addiction Consultants, PC, (WeMAC) is pleased to offer a service designed to assist persons who suffer from addiction to maintain recovery. The Ongoing Care Group is appropriate for those persons who already have experienced some treatment and recovery, but who need additional support because their treatments were brief or their recoveries are not yet well-established. Through the attendance at these group sessions, which will last for 90 minutes and are offered several times during the week, the newly recovering addict will be able to gain insight into what it will take to strengthen and solidify his or her recovery. The group will provide ongoing support in dealing with issues related to work, family and early recovery, based on the twelve step programs.
Patients who are appropriate for the Ongoing Care Group will be those who have graduated from the Professional Recovery System. Others may have been treated elsewhere, but may need a period of intermediate treatment and care as they become comfortable with their new way of life. This group is especially appropriate for those who need to document their continuing efforts at recovery for the legal or administrative systems, such as health professionals who are undergoing monitoring as a condition of continued licensure. The patient in the Ongoing Care Group must be willing to participate in, and be capable of responding to, an insight-oriented group treatment process. The patient should also be free of serious coexisting primary psychiatric or medical diagnoses.
Groups are offered on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
